REEL TO REELS

REEL TO REELS

A reel-to-reel tape, also known as magnetic tape, is a type of analog audio storage medium that consists of a long, narrow strip of plastic film coated with a magnetic material. Sound waves are recorded onto the tape through a magnetic process, where the electrical signal from a microphone or other audio source is converted into a magnetic pattern on the tape. The tape is then played back by passing it over a magnetic head, which converts the magnetic pattern back into an electrical signal that can be amplified and played through speakers. Reel-to-reel tapes were commonly used for music production and playback in the mid-20th century before being largely replaced by digital recording technologies.
